Event Details
This lunch-and-learn series includes presentations on public finance, city services, and other topics that are important to our community. The goal is to inform residents about their local government and community and, in turn, support positive change in the City of Beloit.
In this session, Director of Early Brain Development at Stateline Community Foundation Jessica Austin and Director of Beloit Public Library Nick Dimassis will discuss the importance of early childhood development. Through her work with the Basics, Austin is helping parents and caregivers in Rock County learn how to support their infants and young children so that they can be successful in school and beyond. Dimassis will then share how Discovery PLAYce – the new space at Beloit Public Library – will use the science of early childhood development (and the joy of play!) to target early literacy, executive function, caregiver engagement, and enhanced school readiness.
