(Re)write the Constitution
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. - National Constitution Center.
Join with others to celebrate Constitution Day by writing out by hand sections of the United States Constitution. Writing by hand focuses the mind, increases comprehension, and fosters reflection. Thus, you will engage more deeply with the constitution than if you merely read or listened to it. How will the event work? Copies of the Constitution will be provided along with pens, pencils, and paper. All you need to do is select one or more articles and begin copying by hand. You will then be able to, should you wish, add a reflection on the process. The (re)written articles, along with any reflections, will be displayed in the Riverside Room. This is a drop-in session, so come for as long, or as little, as your time allows.
