Program Description
Event Details
This month UW Whitewater biology professor and ornithologist Susan DeVries, PhD will talk about supporting the birds around us. She'll tell us about plants that attract pollinating birds, feed seed eaters or provide nesting spaces and materials. She'll show us her live Whitewater bird cam (look for it on YouTube) and talk about how you can set up your own feeding station(s). Since it will be the middle of spring migration, she'll also have some great visuals to share of colorful migratory birds in addition to the local regulars.
As usual, we'll have lots of seeds (food, flower and herb) for you to take home and start or enhance your own garden. We can always use help getting our seeds packaged for distribution so this will be a hands-on workshop for those willing to assist (though all are welcome). Additionally, there are some limited quantity seeds we reserve for these programs, and you can still take home a seed starting kit if you haven't gotten one yet this year.
